HELPFUL TIP TO ENGAGE THE RIM TO THE BACKBOARD:
Lay the backboard and post on the ground so that the front of the backboard is facing up
Put the rim in the backboard and use your foot to push it in on each side where the rim connects to the backboard
You will hear or feel that it has snapped in place
